Phone4U billionaire John Caudwell slammed the ‘barbaric’ Italian hospital treatment he received following the ‘horrific’ bicycle accident that left him fighting for his life and requiring multiple surgeries after a freak accident, he saw him break 11 bones while on vacation.

John, who lives in a 45,000-square-foot Mayfair mansion, was cycling with his girlfriend and former Olympic cyclist Modesta Vzesniauskaite, 37, before his annual bike fundraiser when he suffered the horrific accident that l ‘left barely conscious.

“I was in Italy for a week, then I was transferred to Monaco for a week. “Everyone was dressed in hazmat suits and Modesta was not allowed to visit me, and very few spoke a word of English. The Italian hospital, for many reasons, was a real nightmare.

‘It was pretty barbaric. I have never been treated so badly in my life by a hospital or by the staff. I was in horrible pain.

Caudwell managed to call his companion, Modesta Vzesniauskaite, while another motorist called an ambulance.

Recalling the terrifying moment when John told her that he had been in an accident and was “all crushedâ€, she said, “I was on my way and I had the most terrible thought. I’m like, “I managed to have a son, move to the UK and have a happy family – and now I’m going to lose it all.”

She went on to say that she had prayed that her other half would be fine after doctors told her he needed “serious” surgery and feared having to tell her children about it.

John received treatment for a punctured lung, a broken collarbone, a broken scapula and six broken ribs and after a five-day stay in an emergency medical facility, his collapsed lung was successfully re-inflated after doctors sent him back. pierced the chest.
