“Our bike is the most complete” – Francesco Bagnaia

Francesco Bagnaia takes on the Japanese MotoGP GP this weekend as he closes ever closer to the championship lead. Only 17 points from the command held by Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha), he even has the chance to leave Motegi in the lead.

And the Italian Ducati admitted in a press conference that he not only likes the track, but that he also considers it favorable to be competitive on board the Desmosedici GP22: ‘I’m happy to be here. It’s one of my favorite and best tracks. It means the start of the flyaway and it’s one of my favorite tracks. Of course, the conditions and the situation are completely different from 2019 when I was a rookie and struggling with my bike. So I think this year can be good, I really like the track so it goes very well with our bike. I really like braking, so on the brakes we can be competitive”.

When asked if Ducati could be the motorcycle to crash in Japan, Bagnaia retorted with some caution: ‘Looks like we are normally the bike to beat. Our bike is the most complete. For sure this track is great but we saw in Austria that normally we are the fastest, but Fabio can stay with us. It is important to make the right decision regarding the feeling of the bike and we have to take into account the conditions because it looks like it may rain”.

As for the possibility of rain, the #63 commented: “At the moment I’m not thinking too much about the championship because five races is still a lot and everything can still change. I would like to do my job as always and try to be competitive. It’s true that in the wet I’m not the fastest and I always have trouble. In Indonesia, I finished 15th. It will be important to have more wet track sessions if the race is wet to help understand the conditions.”
