Gianni Moscon plans to let his legs do the talking next season.

Moscon will travel to Astana-Qazaqstan in the New Year after spending the past six seasons with Team Sky / Ineos. The Italian is slated for a leading role in the classics with his new Kazakh crew and is aiming for bigger and better things, both on and off the bike.

“I have gained a lot of experience within the British team [i.e., Sky / Ineos] – I learned about myself, how to train and how to feed myself, but in Astana I am convinced that I can take my career one step further, â€Moscon said Tuttobici This weekend.

“I find the right people who believe in me, a beautiful environment in which I receive a lot of confidence. I can’t wait to start training, running and getting results from the first few races.

Moscon, 27, ended his season with a bittersweet and incident-riddled fourth place at Paris-Roubaix last month.

It was a result that was a culmination of a stint at Ineos Grenadiers that saw Moscon make headlines for a series of controversies, including racial abuse, punches against rivals and the launch of his bike on another rider at the Kuurne-Brussels 2020- Kuurne.

Moscon said TuttoBici he knew how to divert the negative media attention that sometimes followed his path.

“I forgive but I don’t forget,†he said of his relationship with the media.

“I don’t take it personally, luckily in recent years I’ve been able to isolate a lot of the press from my feelings. When untruthful things are written about me, they hurt, but I didn’t make a disease out of it. I am convinced that at the end of the day, when you close the door to your house, only the people you believe and love are inside – you choose who to let into your life.

“I can distinguish those who have always written things that are true, reliable, true to the facts and who, on the contrary, have tried to paint me differently from who I am,” Moscon continued.

“I prefer to answer with facts in the race, but sometimes I get bitten there too.”

As 2022 approaches, Moscon wants to see his results rather than his missteps grab the headlines.

Moscon said he was cleared to resume training after suffering an arrhythmia attack in early fall and was eager to get started in Astana’s environment, influenced by Italy.

So what to expect from Moscon when the races start next year?

“Few words, a lot of facts,†he said. “I want the results and the performance to speak for themselves.”
