First Look: Schuberth E2 Flip Front Adventure Helmet

A new flip-up adventure helmet

Schuberth has just released their new adventure-style flip-up front helmet, the E2. When it comes to high-end motorcycle helmets, Schuberth is the name that comes to mind. The German brand has earned a reputation for their attention to detail in producing incredibly comfortable, quiet and safe helmets.

Our expectations are high every time they release a new helmet, because we expect it to be excellent. Their latest offering, the E2, picks up where the already superb E1 left off and improves on some key areas. Let’s take a closer look.

Refined folding front mechanism

The build quality of the Schuberth folding fronts is superb

Schuberth has refined the modular chin bar with a new locking mechanism. Constructed from fiberglass reinforced plastic, it has low weight, which is crucial for drop fronts and improves helmet stability when the chin bar is up. Plus, it now has dual P/J homologation, so it’s legal to ride with it in the open or closed position.

The folding front has also been redesigned to improve the field of vision, which was already excellent on the E1.

Improved security

The E2 has a new expanded polystyrene material for better shock absorption while increasing the head cavity, so the helmet is even more comfortable and safer without adding extra weight.

The helmet also features Schuberth’s specially designed lightweight fiberglass shell and anti-roll system which helps prevent the helmet from being thrown from your head in the event of a crash.

The E2 is certified to the latest 22.06 safety standard, so it’s among the safest helmets you can buy.

Versatile adventure helmet

The redesigned peak is amazing

Being an adventure helmet, the E2 comes with a visor, which looks fantastic. Like the E1, the peak is three-position adjustable and fully removable, but Schuberth has completely redesigned the peak for the E2 to reduce wind drag and noise, a very welcome improvement since we found the peak l ‘E1 to catch some wind at highway speeds.

The E2 comes pre-installed with a Pinlock 120 anti-fog insert and a two-position flip-up sun visor. The E1 has one of the best built-in sun visors we’ve used, so the E2 is sure to deliver here too.

Schuberth also integrated a microphone, antenna and speakers into the helmet. This is a great feature because it eliminates the need for a bulky headset stuck to the side of your headset or messy wires hanging inside the headset.

An optional Sena-powered communication system is available that takes less than 20 seconds to set up, and has all the intercom, voice control, digital assistant, and Bluetooth features you need.

Premium comfort

Redesigned ventilation is a major improvement

If the E2 looks a bit like previous Schuberth helmets we’ve had the pleasure of wearing, it will be an absolute joy to wear. The seamless antibacterial liner, made from high-quality Italian fabric, feels cool and soft against your skin, and is easily removable and washable.

Another welcome addition is the all-new ventilation system, including the rear vent, as we found the E1 to run a little warm in hot weather or off-road.

Schuberth also pays great attention to the aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of its helmets, and the E2 is no exception. We found the E1 to be one of the quietest helmets we’ve worn, and Schuberth went back inside his internal wind tunnel to tune it even further for the E2.

So if you’re looking for a new adventure helmet, the E2 is definitely worth considering. To learn more about this high-quality and versatile flip-top lid, head to Schuberth’s website here.
