Bakeries, butchers, fruit and vegetable producers and others have moved online to offer home deliveries to the Cantabrians in lockdown.

With many local food businesses unable to physically operate stores due to social distancing rules, some have developed websites or are turning to already existing platforms to stay afloat.

Some of the most sought-after delivery items include pies, meat, pasta, fruits and vegetables, and many companies are struggling to keep up with demand.

However, there are also a plethora of places that need online deals just to stay out of the water.

Thing has launched an online directory of places across New Zealand safely delivering locked out food and drink, including the following from Canterbury:

The people of Beckenham Butchery are happy to be able to continue serving their community with locally sourced organic cuts of meat.

Their stocks are limited and the site, beckenhambutchery.co.nz, is the best place to go for product availability and delivery inquiries.

The butcher’s shop is also able to offer click and collect at lower alert levels, but this service is not allowed at alert level 4.

While stocks are running out, Grown’s online grocery store is sourcing fruits and vegetables from new locations to keep up with demand.

Since not all producers supply supermarkets, the website provides these farms with an additional store to stock and through which to sell their products.

They provide a bit of everything from meat to pantry items, and their delivery week is Tuesday through Friday.
