Coppa Italia derby against AC Milan can be a ‘lifeline’ for Inter after unexpected clashes on the road, according to Italian media

Inter have the chance to change form in a very important game as they take on city rivals AC Milan in a Coppa Italia semi-final first leg.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan’s Corriere della Sera, which reports that the Nerazzurri can redeem themselves after recent disappointments, although the game is not without risk of deepening feelings of crisis.

Inter had their most damaging month of the season in February, dropping points to Milan and Napoli in the league and losing to Liverpool in the Champions League before failing to beat Sassuolo or Genoa.

The loss to Neroverdi and the subsequent draw with Griffone were unexpected setbacks as the side had hoped to bounce back with wins from frustrations in some of their most publicized matches in which they had played well but failed to ‘hadn’t gotten the results they ‘I wanted.

Now Inter are in a position where they have failed to win in their last four Serie A matches, and tonight’s derby takes on even more significance than it already would have had.

With a win, Inter can reassert themselves and take a big boost in morale before the run-in of the season, but if they lose, they could find themselves more confident than ever.
